Storm-force winds routinely extend a hundred nautical miles or more from the centre - and almost always asymmetrically. Vessels, ports, and delivery networks planned around the "storm dot" either take unnecessary risk on the dangerous side or burn fuel and days avoiding ocean that is perfectly safe.

            Storm Tracker shows the real shape of the hazard.
