Now in our API the following languages are available:

Arabic (ar); Czech (cz); Greek (el); Persian(Farsi) (fa); Galician (gl); Hungarian (hu); Japanese (ja); Korean (kr); Latvian (la); Lithuanian (lt); Macedonian (mk); Slovak (sk); Slovenian (sl); Vietnamese (vi).

We invite all our users to test translations for weather conditions in different languages. We will be happy to extend our language support according to your wishes. How to know what particular imagery do you get from VANE Geospatial Platform

The one of the ideas of VANE platform - no need of search by scenes and footprints. It is based on a simple assumption: each location in the world has metadata - click on any location and get information about all pixels containing this location. Such projects as cloudless atlases and Google base satellite maps are created according to this basic principle, stitching best imagery pixels in one seamless mosaic. According to scenes metadata VANE can preliminary compile the best satellite cover - users need to set up a parameter order=best for this operation. Even more, VANE language allows you to set up further requirements for your mosaic, providing appropriate parameters in your query - meaning: no older than (day>{yyyy-mm-dd})… or put all last imagery on the top (order=last)... or within the specific time interval (between({yyyy-mm-dd}:{yyyy-mm-dd}))…
Than you can go further, applying your custom colors to the result mosaic, according to VANE language specification.

Just to demonstrate this principle in work we’ve launched a very basic application called Finder.

We invite you to try our new product - the weather alerts which are based on our meteorological data.

Now you can use simple syntax and a few methods of the API to create triggers which will be working upon the occurrence of specified weather conditions (temperature, humidity, pressure, etc.) in a certain period of time. For example, if you are interested in the forecast of approach of frosts or probability of strengthening of wind in a certain place, then you can get this information by using our new tool. More detailed description of work with service is given below.

The alerts will be generated in our service after performing conditions of the trigger. It is necessary to poll service with a certain interval of time to receive it. In the future we are planning development of this direction, addition of push-notifications and new data sources.

In the current version of VANE Language, we use images from Landsat8 satellite which captures the Earth’s entire surface every 16 days. The satellite makes hundreds of images with a unique name for each one like LC81410552016219LGN00 and a pixel size of 30 meters, each image consists of 11 bands, the size of the uncompressed image is 2 GB.
Landsat 8 Operational Land Imager (OLI) and Thermal Infrared Sensor (TIRS) images consist of nine spectral bands with a spatial resolution of 30 meters for Bands 1 to 7 and 9. New Band 1 (ultra-blue) is useful for coastal and aerosol studies, and also new Band 9 is applicable for cirrus cloud detection. The resolution of Band 8 (panchromatic) is 15 meters. Thermal Bands 10 and 11 provide more accurate surface temperatures and are collected at 100 meters. Approximate scene size is 170 km north-south by 183 km east-west (106 mi by 114 mi).
By default, we get B2, B3, B4, B5, B7, but it is possible to download any other bands

This post describes how to use OpenWeatherMap UV index. This is an interesting API because we can use it to explore some important aspects about Android and location aware API. Openweathermap provides this API for free! As you may already know, OpenWeatherMap provides also a full set of API about weather information: you can get current weather conditions, forecast, historical information and so on. This information is free and we can use OpenWeatherMap API free of charge.

Focusing on this article, at its end, we will build an Android app that gets UV index and show it using Material design guidelines.

Initially, we called it Imagery API but finally understood that this service is much bigger than just API calls. Language is a proper name for this service. It is like an SQL for satellite images. Something unique on the satellite market.The Language is entirely online service, there is no any manual procedures or presets like maps prepared in advance. 

One image that we receive from Landsat8 is not an image in common understanding but several layers that have to be processed and merged somehow before you can do anything with it. The weight of each unarchived number of bands is around 2 Gb, and obviously, it takes a lot of resources and time to process it. E.g to make a global map you need around 10,000 images that should be processed and merged. With VANE Language developer does not worry about time-costly pre-processing because we do it online immediately. We give him a powerful tool that is familiar to any developer and hides all complexity. In a short word VANE Language gives a full flexibility for a developer to do with images whatever they want and deploy result into applications. VANE also have a unique feature of configuring the formula of image processing. Means that developer can set up his logic of processing of the image to make specific vegetation indexes, false colors and any other images that he can use for analysis of objects, changes, yield health, etc.
